Aegean Airlines is the largest Greek airline which was founded in 1987 as Aegean Aviation and started operating from May 28, 1999. It operates scheduled flights to over 74 destinations. It also offers schedule services to specific cities in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Israel, Kuwait, and Turkey Aegean was awarded with the SKYTRAX 2011 World Airline Award as the top Regional Airline in Europe. Aegean Airlines' main base is Athens International Airport in Athens, with secondary hubs at Thessaloniki International Airport in Macedonia, Heraklion International Airport in Greece and Larnaca in Cyprus. The airline has codeshare agreements with Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, Olympic Air, SAS, Singapore Airlines, TAP Portugal, and US Airways.
